The small memorial panel for Greta Turner has been commissioned by Haslemere Museum. Greta worked as a voluntary librarian, researcher and archivist for over thirty years. It will be my third commission for the Museum.
Here you can see the cartoon in progress. Charcoal is an ideal medium to use as it is easy to smudge and rub out, which allows me to keep the drawing fluid while trying different compositions. I begin with line as stained glass has a linear framework of lead. Tone is added as the design evolves and finally colour, although I often have a colour image in my head.
