I have been wondering why people are so generous towards me and keep giving me things. Not just their time and knowledge, but their old materials, tools and glass. It is true that I find it hard to say ‘no’ to people. One lady brought round boxes of coloured glass that I couldn’t use, being a glass snob for the mouth-blown stuff, but I was able to pass it on to people who were delighted to use it in their creations.

Over the summer I was gifted crates and crates of off-cuts of the real glass I love. Alf Fisher and the custodians of Chapel Studio didn’t want it to end up in a skip and I was more than happy to make space for it so my students have a good supply of mouth-blown glass for their workshops.
