The Shepherd

£1,900.00

The figure originally came from a panel of shepherds hurrying to Bethlehem, donated by a Dr Currey. We set him in a background of landscape pieces salvaged from other windows. The glass on his face was broken and the lead that goes through his eye emphasises the fragility and vulnerability of glass.

Description

A  round stained glass panel made with historic glass fragments from Charterhouse School in Godalming. The glass was originally made for the chapel in around 1872 by the London firm of Clayton & Bell. It has survived two fires and has been reinvented into a new work of art in my studio in Farncombe.

The panel measures 46cm diameter.
