Small Charterhouse Keepsake – North Chancel

£200.00

If you look closely at this small fragment panel you can see words that were engraved into the glass a hundred and fifty years ago by the glaziers who were responsible for fitting the panels into the right openings. The beautiful cursive handwriting says ‘North Chancel RH’. In church architecture the Chancel is the space around the altar so perhaps the original window panel was destined for the righthand side.

Description

A small framed stained glass panel made with historic glass fragments from Charterhouse School in Godalming. The glass was originally made for the chapel in around 1872 by the London firm of Clayton & Bell. It has survived two fires and has been reinvented into a new work of art in my studio in Farncombe.

The panel measures 10cm x 10cm (framed size 12cm x 12cm x 3cm)
