Small Charterhouse Keepsake – Yellow Petals

£200.00

The delicate yellow petals in this panel originated in a scene depicting the the Passover of the Israelites. The yellow was achieved with silver stain, a powder that contained silver nitrate and which is painted on the back of the glass and fired in a kiln before the pieces of glass are leaded together. It does not fade over time so the colour is the same as when it was first painted a hundred and fifty years ago.

The window in the original school chapel was paid for by the Old Saunderites.

A small framed stained glass panel made with historic glass fragments from Charterhouse School in Godalming. The glass was originally made for the chapel in around 1872 by the London firm of Clayton & Bell. It has survived two fires and has been reinvented into a new work of art in my studio in Farncombe.

The panel measures 10cm x 10cm (framed size 12cm x 12cm x 3cm)
