Blemished Child

£500.00

The child comes from the Sermon on the Mount window, paid for by the Earl of Dalhousie. There is an imperfection in the glass on the child’s face. It would have been there when the glaziers and glass painter used it. Perhaps they thought it wouldn’t show from a distance. For me it makes the face more poignant and moving.

Description

A framed stained glass panel made with historic glass fragments from Charterhouse School in Godalming. The glass was originally made for the chapel in around 1872 by the London firm of Clayton & Bell. It has survived two fires and has been reinvented into a new work of art in my studio in Farncombe.

The panel measures 18cm x 18cm (framed size 20cm x 20cm x 3cm)
