Labours of the Months 2010

Godalming Museum permanant collection

I am influenced by Medieval art and I particularly love depictions of the Labours of the Months. I wanted to create a contemporary version. At the time I shared an allotment with three friends. The panels tell the story of a year on the ‘Lottie’. I wanted to reflect the social side of gardening, as well as the hard work and bountiful produce. And it revisits one of my favorite themes, the changing seasons.

The panels were purchased by Godalming Museum with help from the V&A in 2014 and I linked the 12 panels with a border and bird roundels.

Dimensions: Four panels each 59 x 42cm unframed
