Brambles 2019

Usually, my windows evoke a specific time of the year, but in this scheme I wanted to capture the essence of brambles so they are shown both in flower and fruiting. The tangle of thorny stems supports a wealth of wildlife.

I have to admit to having a love/hate relationship to this plant. Many happy hours spent blackberrying as a child are offset by gruelling battles with brambles when we took on a garden overrun with them.

Dimensions: overall size including frame approx 0.8 x 2.2m. Each panel approx 40 x 60cm
